Lydia Lunch & Marc Hurtado perform music by SUICIDE and Alan Vega
Lydia Lunch came across Alan Vega and Martin Rev when she arrived in New York in the late 1970s as a 16-year-old, and saw them perform as Suicide, a collision of avant-garde performance and minimalist rock that predated punk by several years. Lunch described the performance as "a total show, theatrical, free, violent". Since that reunion, she has forged an enduring friendship and creative collaboration with Vega and Rev, performing on stage with Suicide and providing additional vocals for the legendary track 'Frankie Teardrop', which featured on Suicide's debut album. She also sang 'Prison Sacrifice' in duet with Vega, which appeared on the 2010 album Sniper, recorded by Alan Vega and Marc Hurtado.
Since 2014, Lydia Lunch and Marc Hurtado have joined forces in a project dedicated to the music of Suicide and Alan Vega... a kind of sonic 'Blitzkrieg' and visual shamanic ceremony in which both artists burn their souls in the volcanic heart of Suicide and Alan Vega's music.
