This is the 4th edition of the project, which in previous years has gathered its faithful audience. It is at the same time a unique proposal on the cultural map of Warsaw - in the heart of the city, in the atmospheric courtyard of a historic tenement house at 11 Foksal Street, a space is being created for an authentic meeting of cultures through film art of the highest order. The programme of the review presents the cinematography of countries whose communities actively contribute to contemporary Warsaw - Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Vietnam and India.
"Under the Common Sky" is a unique cultural project that builds bridges of dialogue in the dynamically changing social fabric of Warsaw through the medium of film. There is a particular emphasis on Ukrainian and Belarusian cinema, in response to the unprecedented wave of migration from these countries after 2022. This geographical and cultural diversity reflects the changing demographics of the city and allows us to better understand the experiences and perspectives of our new neighbours.
Each of our evenings is more than a film screening - it is a holistic intercultural experience. Expert introductions before the screenings provide the audience with cultural and artistic context, while moderated discussions after the films, involving filmmakers, experts and the audience, create a space for genuine intercultural dialogue. These encounters not only allow for a deeper understanding of the works presented, but, above all, for the exchange of perspectives and experiences between representatives of different communities. In this way, cinema becomes a catalyst for intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding.
Admission to all shows is free.
Each film evening begins or ends with an expert talk.
The productions will be presented from 9 July to 10 September, every Wednesday at 8pm.
