Second Bielański Passion Music Festival - day 2

Second Bielański Passion Music Festival - day 2

The 2nd Bielański Passion Music Festival is a unique encounter with ancient and contemporary interpretations of Lenten songs. During this year's edition, we will hear traditional works from various regions of Poland, as well as musical arrangements of poetry by Jan Kochanowski or Mikołaj Sępa-Szarzyński. Outstanding artists will perform, taking us on a journey through the Passion tradition, from Kurpie songs to a recital inspired by the Book of Job.

PROGRAMME
5 April 2025 (Saturday) at 7.30 pm
Concert venue: St. Mary's Parish in Confederation Square

The Book of Job
Stanislawa Celinska

A very poetic recital by the wonderful actress Stanislawa Celinska "BOOK OF HIOBA" based on the Old Testament, translated by Czeslaw Milosz, and "Songs" and "Threnody" by Jan Kochanowski, musically arranged and accompanied by Tomasz Bajerski .

The monodrama The Book of Job premiered in the autumn of 1984 at Wanda Warska's Cellar in Warsaw, then under the title De Profundis ("From the Abyss"). The premiere coincided with the funeral of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko. The performance was perceived as a mystery play, after which the audience stood up and, instead of clapping, remained silent for long minutes.
Stanisława Celińska - one of the most outstanding and well-known Polish actresses. She worked with the leading Polish directors and directors: Erwin Axer, Zygmunt Hübner, Jerzy Kreczmar, Olga Lipińska, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Warlikowski and others. For her theatrical roles she has been honoured with, among others: Warsaw Felix, Grand Prix of the "Two Theatres" Festival, Aleksander Zelwerowicz Award, Cyprian Kamil Norwid Award, Irena Solska Award, Annual Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Awarded with the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Gold Cross of Merit and Gold Medal "Meritorious for Culture Gloria Artis".
