Second Bielański Passion Music Festival - day 2

Second Bielański Passion Music Festival - day 2

The 2nd Bielański Passion Music Festival is a unique encounter with ancient and contemporary interpretations of Lenten songs. During this year's edition, we will hear traditional works from various regions of Poland, as well as musical arrangements of poetry by Jan Kochanowski or Mikołaj Sępa-Szarzyński. Outstanding artists will perform, taking us on a journey through the Passion tradition, from Kurpie songs to a recital inspired by the Book of Job.

PROGRAMME
23 March 2025 (Sunday) 12.00 pm
Venue of the concert: Las Bielański Parish Church 3 Dewajtis St.

Inaugural concert "Remember the Man"
Kaja and Janusz Prusinowski

The repertoire of the concert will consist of traditional Lenten songs in melodic versions from various regions of Poland, from living tradition and 19th and 20th century records and recordings. They will be sung to the accompaniment of hurdy-gurdy, foot harmony and a capella, together and separately.

Kaja and Janusz Prusinowski are a married couple deeply committed to the knowledge and renewal of Polish traditional singing and music-making, while pursuing numerous creative endeavours rooted in tradition. They sing religious and secular songs for all occasions of the liturgical year and human life - carols, Lenten, Easter and various holiday songs, grandfatherly and lyrical songs. They are heavily involved in educational and popularisation activities, creating interactive performances - concerts of the Listen Ear theatre, recording albums for and with children - "Kołysała Mama Smoka", "Kusy Janek", "Four Houses of the Sun - Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn". They also run singing workshops and traditional (village) fiddle playing workshops. Janusz Prusinowski is one of the initiators of the rural music revival movement in Poland. He is co-founder of Dom Tańca, artistic director of the All Mazurkas of the World Festival and leader of Janusz Prusinowski Kompania, which has played hundreds of concerts of Polish traditional music in Poland, Europe, Asia and North America and has recorded many noted and award-winning albums - "Mazurkas", "Heart. "After Knees in Heaven", "After Traces". Kaja and Janusz are the parents of five children.

**
Lent is a time of reflection and spiritual preparation for Easter. The passion tradition, present in Polish culture for centuries, is expressed not only in prayer and reverie, but also in music - full of depth, humility and emotion.

We invite you to experience this special time together through music that moves the heart and prompts reflection. Admission to all concerts is free.
