The story of this musical began with the 1988 film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, which was screened in Poland under the title 'Fatal Attraction'. It is the story of a high school ruled by three girls named Heather. When they are opposed by the main character, the story takes an unexpected and bloody turn.

A musical adaptation of the film was made in 2010. Its creators Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy use the original storyline, rock music and blunt lyrics to tell the story of the nightmares of adolescence. The show proved to be a huge hit, breaking popularity records especially in London's West End. It is a representative of the thriving trend of 'high school musicals', which are about and aimed at teenagers. Among the themes explored in the show are struggles with depression, school bullying, small-town hypocrisy and issues of sexual identity. The weight of the themes is great, but 'Heathers' is also a black comedy with a Coen brothers film feel.
