The exhibition 'Capists. Joy and Anguish of Colours' is a presentation of paintings from Krzysztof Musiał's collection. The exhibition will feature works by seven artists: Józef Pankiewicz, Jan Cybis, Hanna Rudzka-Cybisowa, Józef Czapski, Piotr Potworowski, Artur Nacht-Samborski and Zygmunt Waliszewski.
The group of painters, self-proclaimed as the Paris Committee (abbreviated to K.P.) and known as the "Kapists" since the 1930s, is probably the most recognisable artistic group in Polish art of the last century. It was formed one hundred years ago, in the academic year 1923/1924, by students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, most of whom were students of Professor Józef Pankiewicz, who had come to Krakow from Paris at the time.
A lavishly illustrated Polish-English catalogue with more than two hundred reproductions of paintings and photographs is a kind of summary of the Kapists' work that has taken place at aTAK Gallery to date. With joy and anguish of colour, aTAK Gallery closes the celebrations of the group's centenary.
