Exhibition "Wolski Cabinet"

A permanent element of the Wola Museum's exhibition is the Wolski Cabinet. It is a casket in which the multithreaded history of the capital is enclosed. It is made up of socio-political, cultural and personal stories.

The entire narrative is divided into fifteen themes that best reflect the character and history of Wola. Corresponding to them in the visual layer are selected photographs, museum objects, archives and other artefacts. The layout of the Wolski Cabinet has been organised to best reflect the landscape, cultural and social transformations of the district.

Among the themes presented was 'Modern Wola', depicting the oldest history of Wola, before it was incorporated into the capital. It was here that royal elections were held. The "Commerce" section, in turn, outlines the panorama of Wola's commerce from the legendary bazaar, Kercelak, through the PDT, to the glitz of today's shopping and business centres. "Social construction" refers to a phenomenon important to Wola, which was the initiatives to build workers' housing estates, while drawing attention to the social responsibility of capitalism. "The Warsaw Uprising" and "The Slaughter of Wola", on the other hand, provide an introduction to the most tragic events in the history of the capital, which had a lasting impact on the identity of the city.
