The permanent exhibitions open with EARTH IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM, showing the place and peculiarities of our planet against the background of the other bodies that make up the Solar System. The cosmic aspect of the exhibition is presented by two stands: a large, colourful banner depicting the individual elements of our planetary system, and a section devoted to astro-problems, i.e. impact craters, i.e. unique geological structures created when the Earth collides with meteorites, comets or asteroids. The 'terrestrial' issues are characterised by charts and specimens grouped into themes concerning the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere, richly illustrated with photographs taken from space (mainly by satellites), which also emphasises the cosmic dimension of the phenomena occurring on our planet.
