Exhibition "Experimentation Zone"

Exhibition "Experimentation Zone"

The Experimentation Zone is Copernicus' central exhibition, located in the vast open space of the first floor. It is dedicated to nature and the phenomena occurring in it, as well as to man and human perception of the physical world. Here you can experiment on your own at around 200 experimental stations.

The exhibits you will find here are not only challenging and educational, but also accessible and extremely engaging. They allow you to explore, to test, to make mistakes. They present natural phenomena with the utmost precision, which you can discover and explore through interaction. Most of them - of which we are very proud - we built ourselves in our workshop. Some we brought in from the best builders in the world. In the exhibition, we have kept the presence of multimedia to a minimum so that the visitor can concentrate fully on the direct experience.

Each exhibit provides new stimuli and at the same time knowledge that can be referred to at the next station. Groups of exhibits present a given phenomenon from multiple sides, which promotes better memory and understanding of complex processes. For example, seeing the analogy between different types of wave - water wave, sound wave, light wave or Mexican wave - is not easy. Only repeated experiments enable you to observe its different forms and types and understand the phenomenon holistically. In this way, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of magnetic phenomena, as well as the other thematic groups in the exhibition.

In the section on man and nature, you will become the subject of surprising experiments yourself. You will test how your senses and abilities allow you to perceive, interpret and describe the world. You will test the possibilities of your own body, your sensitivity to light, your perception of colours, your susceptibility to illusions. You will find out what it feels like to lie on a "Fakir Bed" and whether you are able to drive a car after drinking alcohol. You will also learn what a sequoia trunk looks like in cross-section. You will have the opportunity to observe living organisms and the changes these organisms undergo. You will see photosynthesis with your own eyes, take a look at centipedes and proliferating fungi.
